Парадокс честности можно сформулировать следующим образом: Честность является непротиворечивостью, которая эффективно действует на межличностном уровне. Честность, которая предполагает неоскверненность сознания заботой о политической выгоде, невозможно отделить от честолюбивого стремления к одобрению. Более того, она служит правильным путём к завоеванию этого одобрения. Честность вовлечена в наши деловые отношения с другими людьми, и честолюбивое стремление завоевать их уважение является неотъемлемой частью её архетипической констелляции. — Paradox of integrity can be stated as follows: Integrity is a self-consistency that is effective interpersonally. Integrity, which would seem to presuppose a conscience uncontaminated by concern for political advantage, cannot be separated from personal ambition for approval. Rather, it is the right way to win the approval. Integrity involves our dealings with others, and ambition to win their respect is part of its archetypal constellation.
